Thirty-year-old agaves.
One tiny release.

Victor Ramos harvested these neglected madrecuixe three decades after planting them. The result is a one-time, 50.5% ABV bottling that will not come around again.

The new release

Old boys.
Thirty years in the making.

Victor Ramos planted this field of madrecuixe shortly after his son Emanuel was born in 1993. With farming, distilling, and family demanding his attention, the field was left to grow among wild grasses and plants.

The undernourished agaves matured unusually slowly and stayed remarkably small. Victor finally harvested the first batch in fall 2023, after Emanuel’s 30th birthday, calling them niños viejos—“old boys”—for their great age and youthful appearance.

Featured producer

Growers.Producers.Bottlers.

A grower-led project built on more than 5,000 acres of premier vineyard land across the West Coast.

01

Growers

They are growers first and foremost, owning and farming every vineyard. All are SIP Certified, giving the team complete control over how each grape is grown.

02

Producers

Conscientious farming carries into the cellar: minimal intervention, no new oak, no additives, native yeast, and minimal sulfur at bottling.

03

Bottlers

Every bottle stays in their hands from the moment a vine enters the soil until the finished wine leaves the winery—preserving provenance, quality, and value.

Rooted in the West

From the vineyard.
All the way through.

James Ontiveros and Matt Turrentine, founders of Grapevine Capital Partners, come from families deeply rooted in California agriculture and viticulture. The Ontiveros family has stewarded California land since the 18th century, while Turrentine’s father founded Turrentine Brokerage in the 1970s.

Together they assembled more than 5,000 acres of premier vineyard land across California and Oregon. Every vineyard is certified sustainable, with many practicing organic viticulture. Their holdings stretch from Santa Barbara and Paso Robles to Napa Valley, Mendocino, and the Willamette Valley.

When a grape surplus created a difficult choice, they chose to bottle the exceptional fruit themselves. The result is straightforward, honest wine that puts meticulous vineyard stewardship in every bottle.

Nothing between the land and the bottle

“No new oak. No heroic winemaking. Just thoughtfully grown fruit, carefully shepherded from vineyard to bottle.”

The winemaking team is led by Chris Brown, whose three decades of experience include work with the Miller family of Bien Nacido, alongside winemaker Justin Kahler.
